Welcome to our new club area where we will post info about club events, newsletters, sales, meetings and carvings!

What is HWCA? Heritage Wood Carvers Assembly is a new woodcarving club being formed at Heritage Arts Studio. This club differs from others in that there are no elected officials, no treasury report, no minutes of meetings or old / new business. We are a collection of woodcarvers who do not find value in these kinds of trappings, but simply wish to get together socially, carve wood, participate in events and have fun.

  • Membership dues are $25 / year and members are issued a unique laminated membership card with their membership number barcode on the back.
  • Members receive a 10% discount on all woodcarving supplies when they present their membership card.
  • Members have the opportunity to sell their woodcarvings through the Heritage Arts Studio gift shop and website.
  • HWCA will publish a quarterly newsletter, which will be the only "meeting minutes" for this club.
  • HWCA will host a free quarterly Open Carve on a Saturday or Sunday, for members only. This could be a pot luck event...
  • HWCA will have a summer picnic / bar-b-q
  • HWCA will have a Holiday party (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or whatever)
  • HWCA will participate in 4 woodcarving shows, throughout the year, where members are invited to display their carvings at the Heritage Arts Studio table. These will probably be Lower Columbia Woodcarvers Club in Longview, WA., Artistry in Wood Show at Chinook Winds, OR., Coastal Carvers Show in Salem, OR., and the Crawfish Festival in Tualatin, OR.

Upcoming Events:

  • HWCA Quarterly Meeting Sunday Sept. 7th, 2008, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Open Carve Format - bring snacks to share and a project to work on!

The cruise was an incredible success! This is a view of the Hubbard Glacier, from the deck of the Celebrity "Infinity". The temperature was around 60 degrees, mostly clear skies with only about 5 knot winds. Note the blue of the ice. The glacier would "calve" about every 15 minutes. A photo gallery will soon be available on the "Cruise" page with more highlights!
