Heritage Arts Studios has been promoting the art of woodcarving, painting, drawing and sculpture for over 10 years, as well as consignment sales of woodcarvings, for local and regional artists. Founder and CEO, Kelley Stadelman, has made it her life’s work to provide a creative, non-competitive environment for people to develop the right (artistic) side of the brain. Kelley has been featured in several woodcarving magazines, articles in the Oregonian, as well as a broadcast of “ArtBeat” on OPB, and AM Northwest.

Both our classrooms are busy almost everyday and evening during the week, and most Saturdays. Heritage Arts Studio hosts seminars by nationally known painters and carvers. A nice compliment of classes are offered, painting, drawing, and woodcarving gives everyone the opportunity to develop an artistic eye. We have an audio / visual system with 5 large monitors, a Burke sharpening system for carving tool maintenance, sturdy mallet carving tables with carving arms and screws, and extensive library of reference materials, a wide assortment of blanks and roughouts, as well as painting supplies and carving tools from Flexcut, Stubai and  Dastra. We also carry strops, tool rolls, compounds, stones, and other carving supplies.

Our classes are designed for Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced carvers. For beginners, we provide tools and safety gloves. Our instructors are skilled in relief carving, in-the-round carving of caricatures, animals, old world Santa's, elves, gnomes, dragons, primitive fish and birds, snow men and women, cottonwood bark castles and spirits, Indian heads, hobby horses, ship's figureheads, religious figures, fairy tale creatures and walking sticks (did I leave something out?).

We have the most competitive prices for classes in the state of Oregon! Are goal is to keep fees, material costs and overhead to a minimum, making your woodcarving experience affordable. Our weekly open carve classes are $12.00 / 3 hour session. Students pay the instructor for weekly Open Carve Classes by the month. If you miss a class, you still pay for your seat in the class. This guarantees there will be a place for you. If you cannot make it to class, it is your option / responsibility to contact someone else to attend in your place (they reimburse you directly for the class).

Jeff Harness is adding a new Open Carve Class Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Anyone in the crowded Monday class will get preference over new students.
