Kelley Stadelman Open Carve Classes
I have spent 50 years observing the world, looking but not always seeing. After college and then transitioning from a full time career as a Radiological Technologist to part time, I began to rekindle a long time love of art. I took advantage of every opportunity to experience new and different ways to see by drawing, sculpting and painting. After learning to carve, I found all these experiences could be woven together to create exciting carving projects. I am overwhelmed by a thirst for more experience and time to devote to woodcarving. This is what drives me through every day, not just for myself but also for the teachers and students that come to Heritage Arts Studio. I hope my desire to create is never quenched. I am compelled to share the joy I find through woodcarving with others. I have taught woodcarving almost as long as I have carved. When my friends saw my first few carvings, they wanted to try it themselves. I thought as long as I knew more then they, I might as well teach them. That first class blossomed into six weekly classes and 3-4 seminars a month for the last 13 years. The first 6 years of teaching were on the road, holding classes in as many as 7 different cities each month. In 1996, I stopped travel teaching and settled into my own little studio, a 12’x24’ garage. It was nicely put together and very comfortable, but by 1999 more space was needed. After a 6-month, extensive remodel, two spacious studios with video technology were born. Both our classrooms are busy almost everyday and evening during the week, and most Saturdays. Heritage Arts Studio hosts seminars by nationally known painters and carvers. A nice compliment of classes are offered, painting, drawing, and woodcarving gives everyone the opportunity to develop an artistic eye.
